## Does a dripping faucet need repair or replacement?

A drip does not by itself tell you whether the faucet needs replacing. Identify where the water appears, whether it happens with the handle off and what fixture you have. A plumber can assess the cause, available parts and overall condition before discussing repair or replacement.

## Locate the water without taking the faucet apart

Is water dripping from the spout, appearing around the handle or collecting below the sink? Note whether it happens continuously or only while the faucet is running. A short description of that pattern is more useful than guessing which internal part failed.

EPA identifies worn faucet washers and gaskets as common causes of faucet leaks. That is general background, not a diagnosis of your fixture. The manufacturer and model help the plumber identify the appropriate parts and instructions.

## Make repair and replacement separate options

Tell the provider whether your goal is to keep the faucet or replace it as part of a planned update. If you already have a replacement, share its product details and photos of the existing setup before the visit. Ask what the proposal includes and whether related valves or connections need assessment.

Avoid assuming that all dripping faucets use the same parts or that buying a new fixture completes the scope. The plumber needs to assess the actual installation and access.

## Flag water outside the fixture

Mention any water reaching the cabinet, wall or floor. If an active leak is uncontrolled, do not wait for an A5 scheduled-service request; contact an emergency plumbing service. Keep away from water near electrical equipment. A5 does not provide emergency dispatch.

## Useful photos for your request

Show the whole faucet, the point where water appears and the accessible area beneath the sink. Include the brand or model information if visible. Leave the plumbing assembled; photos are for starting the conversation, not diagnosing a hidden fault.
